The final report into the Future Support of Agriculture in Scotland by the Pack Inquiry was published today. The Common Agricultural Policy and the Single Farm Payment Scheme will be overhauled in 2013. The report contains some 40 recommendations which include a top-up fund to promote competitiveness and help farmers tackle climate change, food security and water and energy supply.
The Inquiry was commissioned in 2009 by the Rural Affairs Secretary, Richard Lochhead, who will now reflect on the recommendations and work alongside rural communities to ensure that the best outcome will be achieved for farmers and the communities.
